Friday, October 11, 2013, a date which will live in infamy .....
Well, it's probably not quite that dramatic, but it was the day the CEO (Chief Executive Officer), CFO (Chief Financial Officer) and CPO (Chief People Officer) addressed the salaried ranks of the company which I was then employed during a monthly business review meeting. Before a word was said, we could tell that something was "up" just by looking at the expression on the CEO's face.
He began by painting a dour picture, that the company was experiencing heavy turbulence and the senior management has come to the conclusion that drastic measures were needed to keep the ship from sinking. Details were then provided regarding how many cuts were required, followed by two options for "separation", and then the final deadline. Before his words had even stopped echoing through the room, I was pretty sure that this was going to be an opportunity for me to move on.
So, I began to pray, and He whispered, "I'll take care of you."
